Dear Eliza,
Hoping that you continue to apply yourself to the study
of the English language, I take the liberty to send you an
English translation of Schiller’s works by Bulwer. Perhaps
you have read the original in German; so much the better,
for you can then make a comparison between the two
languages; and difficult passages will be more easily understood.
Pray, let me have an English letter. I should like to
see whether you have made progress in your studies. At
present I have not much time to spare, and conclude my
letter begging you to give my compliments to your dear
parents, and my love to your dear little brothers and sisters.
