The Settlements on the Delaware 403
Eev. Girelius returned to Sweden in 1791. Dr. Collin,
however, remained as pastor of Wicaco (Gloria Dei)
till his death October 7, 1831.
Thus ended the Swedish Mission on the Delaware.
Nineteen years later, Swedish congregations were
established in Andover and Moline, Illinois, by new
bands of immigrants from Sweden. Thus the Swedes
on the Delaware could almost touch hands with the
Swedes on the Mississippi.
