NEPHEI.INsBEARING PEGMATITIC DYKES ON SEILAND
Pegmatitic dykes, with the same mineral association as the pegmatitic
dykes in Seiland, are also met with on the surrounding islands such as
Stjernø and Sørø (see the map Fig. 1).
A crystal of apatite, identical with the apatite from Seiland, comes
from Stjernø.
A large crystal of zircon about 4 cm. thick, originates from a locality
at Stjernsund (either Stjernø or Sørø).
In the present state of our knowledge of the geology of the islands
in Finmarken it is not possible with certainty to decide on the rock*
complex, from which the pegmatitic dykes in Seiland are derived. It is
to be hoped that the question will be cleared up by the detailed investigations
planned by Mr. Th. Vogt.
