Guðbrandur Vigfússon, Icelandic linguist, born 13 March
1827, died 31 Jan 1889.
1850 student in Copenhagen
1864 invited to England to complete the Icelandic-English
dictionary begun by R. Cleasby. Vigfusson completed this
work in 1874. "He had earlier revised Sveinbjörn Egilsson's
Lexicon poeticum"
1866 settled in Oxford
1871 M.A. from Oxford University
