Georg Richolff,

Halle 1924, men kunde då endast utgivas i några maskinskrivna exemplar.

Katalog der Ornamentstichsammlung des Magnus Gabriel De la Gardie in
der Kgl. Bibliothek zu Stockholm. Hrsg. von ISAK COLLIJN.
Stockholm-Uppsala: Almqvist & Wiksells Boktr.-A. B., 1933. XIV, 102 (1) s.,
86 pl. Fol.

This is a magnificent and scientifically accurate catalogue of the
remarkable collection of ornament prints contained in a big folio album, which
belonged to the Swedish statesman De la Gardie in the time of Queen
Christina. The precious manuscript and books collected by him, including the
celebrated Codex argenteus, or Gospels of Ulf ilas, are in the Uni versity
Library at Uppsala, but certain series of engravings, which include, besides
the ornament prints, a remarkable collection of 187 views of towns, from
1519 to 1621, were detached from his library and are now in the Royal
Library at Stockholm and have also been described by Collijn.2 The splendid
collection of 1280 ornament prints, many of them unique or very rare, and
superb in quality, originally formed by a native of Augsburg, Marquard
Dreher (d. 1614), belonged in 1616 to his brother Paul (d. 1625). It
represents the art of Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and France during the
years 1530—1616. Arranged in the album by subjects, the prints are here
catalogued alphabetically under artists’ names, with every possible
information and copious illustrations. Dr. Collijn had already published, in 1931,
one of the rarest sets of prints in the De la Gardie collection, Hieronymus

i Thieme-Beckers lexikon, Bd 23 (1929), s. 21 ff.
