The town of Faulund isa large, and undoubtedly an opu-
lent, town, on account of the circulation of money that
muft naturally accrue from the carrying on fo immenfe
and extenfive a work, Thele copper works are undoubt-
edly worth the traveller’s infpeGion. The impofitions we
met with in Faulund and the many delays upon the road
from the wilful obftinacy and incivility of the people,
urged us to the difagreeable neceffity of making a formal

On the 7th. we arrived at Avefladt where there is acu-
rious copper work, and alfo the King’s mint for coining
copper money. © The variety of purifications which that
metal undergoes, aswell as the various procefles before it
comes to the mint, are well worth obfervation. The
Governor of the mint paid us much attention, giving us
an invitation to his houfe, and treating us with ftrong
beer, a rare and uncommon beverage in that country !
At this place we met the Spanifh and Dutch Ambaffadors
ona tour through that country, with avery inconfiderable
