9. Baby.
Look at Baby! Isn’t he a
dear? How plump he is, and
what a big round face he has.
His cheeks are rosy, his eyes
are bright, his mouth is small,
and he has two pretty red lips.
He has not any teeth yet, but
he will begin to cut his teeth
in a week or two.
He looks at me, and hears
what I say, but he cannot
speak. His ears are rather
large, and stand out too much.
He has a little snub nose.
But when he is older, he may
get a nice straight nose like
his mother’s. I showed him
a rose, he took it in his little
fingers, and thought it smelt
very sweet. He is almost as
bald as his grandfather, and
has no eyebrows. He has a big
head and a high forehead.
