yesterday. There are ten
degrees of frost now. The lake
(river) is frozen. I should
like to skate (ski). I hope we
shall have some more snow.
We have not had much snow
this month. — Is the ice safe?
— I think so. — Are you cold?
— No, I’m not, are you? —

East, West) wind. The wind is
shifting round to the East. It
has dropped. — Where is the
North? — The North is over

opposite direction. You can always
tell the points of the compass,
when the sun is shining. You
take out your watch, and let the
minute hand point towards the
sun. The south is then bet-
