When we have finished
dressing, Charlie and I have
our breakfast. Then I say
good-bye to father and mother,
put on my overcoat and hurry
off to the office.
I have about half an hour’s
walk, so if it is raining or
looks like rain, I take the tram
which stops only a few
minutes from our door. Yesterday
it was pouring with rain, so
all the seats were taken, and
I had to stand (be a
straphanger) nearly all the way.
Everybody looked cross and I
was not in a very good
temper (frame of mind) myself.
It is very fine to-day, and
everybody looks pleased. I
shall not take the tram, but
have a nice long walk in the
lovely sunshine.
When I have finished my
work for the day, I go home
again and have my supper.
The evening is spent in
reading and talking; sometimes
(a few) some friends come to
see us, and we have a dance.
I prefer the old dances,
such as the waltz, polka etc.,
but my brother likes the
foxtrot, one-step, tango, jazz
etc. He is an excellent
dancer, and if he has a good
partner, it iz a great pleasure
to watch them.
