Substantives: a Swede, a

a German, an American, an
Italian, a Spaniard. All these
take -s in the plural: five
Swedes, the Norwegians etc.
Those ending in -s have the
same form both in the singular
and the plural: a Swiss, a
Chinese, a Japanese. In the
plural; the Swiss, the Chinese,
the Japanese. Those ending
in -man change -man into -men:
an Englishman, two
Englishmen, a Scotchman, many
Scotchmen, an Irishman, a
Dutchman etc.
