bko. Im Herbst 1852 ward durch den englischen
Civilingeniör Iiadon die Kirche mit einem
Erwärmungsapparat versehen, dem ersten seiner Art in
Schweden, der seitdem das Muster mancher solcher
Anlagen geworden ist. Im nächsten Jahr erhielt
sie Gasbeleuchtung.
Der Platz bei der Kirche herum ward bis 1802
als Beerdigungsplatz benutzt; als dieser nach dem
gegenwärtigen Kirchhofe auf Stampen verlegt ward,
ebnete und pflasterte man den Platz bei der
Kirche, der 186Ö mit einem hübschen Eisengitter
eingefasst und mit frischen Grasplätzen und Baum und
Blumenanlagen geschmückt ward.
Im Thurme hängen 4 Glocken, von denen die
grösste nicht weniger als 36 Schiffpfund wiegt.
Auf ihr liest man folgende schöne, von dem spätem
Erzbischof J. O Wallin gedichtete Inschrift:
0 Mensch! liorcli «uf, wenn mein mahnender Ruf
So feierlich und mächtig die Lüfte durchdringet,
Und eile zum Tempel und preise den Herrn,
In dem du alleine sollst leben und wandeln.
Doch mögest dem tönenden Erz du nicht gleichen,
Denn nicht ist’s genug für dein Heil und dein Bestes,
Gebete zu sprechen und Fsaline zu singen:
Geh. thu Gottes Willen, und lieb deinen Nächsten!
Auf der ändern Glocke liest man:
Um den Herrn zu preisen, eil zum Tempel,
Dort ist’s heilig, ist des Himmels Pforte;
Kommt und lasst euch helfen, trösten, stärkcu
An dem Tag, den unser Gott gemacht.
Freunde Jesu, einig geht im Geiste
Durch das ßand der Liebe und des Friedens,
Ruhigen Gewissens, reinen Hi-rzeus •
Jesu Weg’, zum Land der ewigen Freude.

Planen omkring kyrkan begagnades ända till
år 1802 såsom begrafningsplats. Då denna
flyttades till nu varande kyrkogården å Stampen, blef
kyrkoplanen utjemnad och stenlagd. Ar 1860 vardt
den omgifven med ett vackert jernstaket och
försedd med friska gräsmattor samt träd- och
blom-stcrplamcnnoar.
I tornet hänga fyra klockor, af hvilka den
största har den betydliga vigten af 36 skeppund. A
densamma läses följande vackra, af sedermera
erke-biskop J. O. Wallin författade inskription :
0 menska gif akt, när mitt manande ljud
Högtidligt och mäktigt kring nejderna höres,
Och skynda till templet att lofva din Gud.
1 hvilken allena du lefver och röres.
Dock, vare icke sjelf blott en ljudande malm;
Det är icke nog för ditt lugn och ditt bästa,
Att läsa din bön och att sjunga din psalm,
Men göra Guds vilja och älska din nästa.
På den andra klockan läses:
Kommer till det rum, der Herren dyrkas:
Det är heligt, det är himlens port,
Kommer hit, att hjclpas, lugnas, styrkas,
På den dag, som Herren hafver gjort.
Jesu vänner, håller andans enhet
Genom kärlekens och fridens band,
Ocli med samvets ro, med hjertats reuliet,
Yaudrer Jesu väg till glädjens land.

En-genieer Mr Hadon. This apparatus was the first
of its kind in Sweden and has given rise to the
introduction of many others. In the year following
Gas was introduced.
The place round the church was, until the year
1802, used as a burial-ground. When this was
removed to the present chuvch-yard at “Stampen“,
the ground round the church was levelled and
paved. — In the year 1860, it was enclosed within
a handsome iron railing, and laid out in grass plots
and trees and flowers were planted. The belfry
contains four bells of which the largest weighs nearly
7 tons. There is an inscription upon it written by
the Bishop J. O. Wallin of the following tenor:
Attend, Oh man! when loud my voice I raise,
Nor let my solemn call, vain summons prove;
% But to the temple haste, thy God to praise;
Thy God, in whom alone thou dost live and move.
Yet a mere sounding metal be not thou,
For peace and good t’will not sufficient prove,
To say thy prayer, to sing thy psalm, to make thy vow;
But strive to do Gods will, and thy neighbour love.
Upon one of the Other bells is the following:
Come to this house where God is glorilied,
For holy it is, it is of heaven the gate;
Como hither to be holpen, strengthened edified
Upon this day, which God for rest hath made.
Friends of Jesus! let it be your merit
To hold by bonds of peace, of unity the spirit.
With peace of conscience and with purity of heart
lu Jv-su way, to realms of joy depart!
