out the nuts, and when the early dawn was grey he
was dead, and sat erect in death, with his eyes wide
open, for he had not even a friend to close them.

The next day the little robin flew to the distant
poor relations of the rich squirrel, and told them
what had happened, and they all hastened imme-
diately to the old oak tree and had a jolly time
of it, dividing the treasure.

Who pitied the poor rich dead miser? I fear
not one of them.
