— ty skuld blir det ändå. Wåra åsigter om den politiska wägen
till Samhällets lycka äro helt olika, dock wi äro öfverens, så hoppas
jag, uti det högre botemedlet för samhällssjukan, och då blir det
icke så farligt, så länge wi låta wåra politiska styras af wåra
religiösa bevekelsegrunder.
Vi mötas möjeligen efter Jul — och då få wi widare talas vid.

To the Author of »Sambandet m. m.»1
Sir,
Yesterdays post brought me your letter and a copy of your
pamphlet; and as it is not my province to judge motives, I must
take the transmission of these as an act of civility requiring an
acknowledgement from me. In return allow me to request your
candid perusal of the accompanying production of my pen, with its
addenda.
When the »Kopparbergs Tidning» containing your, by no means
moderate attack, reached me, I resolved at once to take no sort of
notice of it, for really it did not in the least disturb my placidity of
mind, as belonging to the class »scurrilous» and containing in itself
its own refutation. But the gross remarks about chartism coinciding
with similar charges by Hauswolff having produced some effect on
persons ignorant of facts and disposed to embrace any opportunity
however slight of joining in the outcry against vital practical
godliness, I was urged to take up that part of the article, and well
knowing the ground on which I stood, and knowing too that the
onus probandi rested with the person making the charge, I constructed
my protest accordingly. Such a charge could only be answered by

läseriet, methodismen och nykterhetsföreningarne etc. Dessa artiklar kommo sedan
ut i broschyrform, Falun 1840. Senare skrev han en broschyr om Sambandet
mellan methodismen och missionsföreningarna i Sverige etc. Falun 1841, 42.
