tional donations might be expected. Others in New York and
elsewhere, with whom I conversed kindly engaged to take the matter
into serious consideration and forward their subscriptions to such
place as I might point out.
It is for the information of all friends of my mission that I
now state my purpose of leaving Boston for England and Sweden
on Oct. ist next. All communications therefore, intended for me
must be forwarded to my address at the Mission Rooms, Boston, so
early that they may reach that place at the latest by the 30th
of Sept.
It is impossible for me adequately to express the gratitude I
feel for the liberal support afforded me in my »work and labor of
love». The fact that the sums given have, in consequence of
prevailing financial depression, been smaller than at any other period
they would have been, so far from producing any feeling of
disappointment, really proves a great encouragement. For, that anything
has been given under the circumstances, to an object so distant and
so recently known here, manifests an amount of Christian principle
and a depth of affectionate interest which cannot but be comforting
to the heart of the missionary.
The best evidence of my gratitude and the most suitable return
I can make to my Christian brethren of America, will be afforded
by my devoting with increasing zeal the remainder of my days to
the great work of reviving the spirit of piety in the orthodox and
excellent forms of the Swedish National Church.
»Finally Brethren, pray for me, that the word of the Lord
may have free course and be glorified (in Scandinavia) even as it is
with you».

Höglärde Herr Pastor!
Hos en embetsbror kommer jag att göra mig påmint under
hjertlig tillönskan af framgång såväl i nykterheten särskildt, som hela
evangeli sak och min tillbedjansvärde Försonares lära. Jag hoppas
och tror att vi på olika rum sträfva till samma mål, menniskoslägtets
