Helsingfors, 25 Apl 1842.

My dear Sir,

I oft longed for your letters which however for such a length
of time I have missed, and I know it cannot well be otherwise
occupied as you are in your calling and with different avocations.
— Since I last had the pleasure of writing to you, you have made a
journey to a distant quarter of the Globe and after your return met
with trials of no ordinary description as I find from the newspapers
whose unceasing virulent attacks have indeed filled me with disgust
and vexation, but I still trust their evil intentions will be frustrated
and that the good sense of the public will awake and regain the
ascendancy over the angry and fiendish passions which
misrepresentations and all kinds of machinations have raised against you. May
God only grant you His consolation and preserve your strength to
withstand and overcome your ennemies! — The account of the låte
most disgraceful scene in your Chapel during Divine worship, which
I have had, grieved me more than words can describe. — This and
other proceedings of låte prove a degree of demoralization, and that
amongst classes which are reckoned to the educated, which shock
every rightminded man and to every Swede who loves and is
jealous of the Honor of his country is most painful. — I fear there
is in store for my poor Country great public sufferings and
misfortunes in order to work out a regeneration according to. the mercy
and wisdom of the Almighty Ruler and Disposer of events.

At such a time as this when you are harassed on all sides I
ought not to inconvenience you by the request I am now going to
prefer but the object in view, as well as my having no other so
proper friend to turn to I am sure will form an excuse. — A
public School for girls here is namely in want of a Schoolmistress used
to and patient with children and fit to conduct such an establishment
upon the Lancastrian method. — One of the Director who likewise is
