2 O 2 MEDDELANDEN OCH AKTSTYCKEN

To unknown.1
(Stockholm, 26 August 1636.)

Stockholm, 26 of Aug. [1636].

As for my busines 1 haue all the fauour & assistannce here
from the L. Channc. y:t I can craue of him; by his addresse I haue
dealt with certaine diuines of this place with whom I haue laid a
good foundation, haueinge engaged them to certaine principles, w:ch
will bringe them further in due tyrne then they themselues are
aware off. But one of them is almost as much for peace as I am.
& it is come already soe farre y:t publickly on St. Bartholmew his

will be able to let them see an easy passage, but if then they will
here take ye worke publiquely in hand, doe you thinke that I shall
bee able to gaine reall assistannce from ye Church of England
Communi nomine? I doubt of it as yet. Neuerthelesse god is
Al-suffkient & tyrne will cleare all things.

[John Durie.]

To William Laud?
(Stockholm, 27 August 1636.)

Right Reuerend Father in God,

The matter wxh I studie to promote here is like to take effect;
for I find reall coadioutors: the L:d Chancellour hauing giuen me
addresse towards some of the Chief preachers of this towne, I haue
gained their affections to the worke, & their assent to many
fundamental! positions, to wxh if they will sticke fast in practise I make
no doubt, but the euent will bee answerable to our expectation:
now I am to gette letters from him of addresse towards the pro-
