MEDDELANDEN OCH AKTSTYCKEN

To [Samuel Har 11 ib].1
(Stockholm, j| October 1636.)

Stockholme, j| October. [1636].

I entend to giue you an account of my pfro]gresse wherein I
haue spent 6 weekes; the other day I came home and this eueninge
I gaue my Lord Channc: an account of my proceedings and heard
his aduice vpon the matter, now I will relate all shortly vnto you.

In these 6 weekes space I haue beene at Vpsall, the onely
vniuersity of this crowne, 14 dayes and at Westerose, where one of
the cheif Bishops seas is and a Gymnasium (wherein are six
professors, two of diuinity and the rest of liberall arts & sciences) 12
dayes. And at Strangenesse (where is likewise a Gymnasium and
a B[isho]p) 10 dayes. My scope to goe to those parts was to
engage the B[isho]ps and professors of diuinity to my worke. To
this effect I had l[ett]res of addresse from the L. Channc: to each
of these places whereby they were desired to giue mee audience &
an answere such as they should thinke fittinge. This they haue
done soe fauorably that I haue great cause to praise & thanke god
for the successe of my intentions.

For after y:t I had gotten audience at Vpsall & giuen the
professors information of my worke they were moued to declare
themselues by write what their resolution and Counsell was in the
worke. This they haue done very really for they offer to
contry-bute their best counsell to further the worke in due tyrne. They
declare that their desire is to help and procure a full & reall
agreem[en]t in ye whole substannce of religion betwixt the parties.
They aduise that a fundamentall confession of fayth should bee
erected to shewe the Condicons of the agreement & approue of the
meanes, how it should bee brought to passe, viz. by some publicke
meetinge & the manner w:ch I shewed they did allowe of soe y:t
I would not desire for the first entry more of them then I did
ob-tayne. Nay they were of their owne accord forward to vrge the
matter to a particular consultacon, at w:ch 1 was glad & haue
giuen them matter to consult vpon w:ch if they determine, the half
of this worke & more is done, for seeinge they did agree to ye
makinge of a fundamentall confession I thought good to oblige them
fully to some conclusions or at least deliberations about it.
Therefore I did conceiue a Theologicall way of Consultacon concerninge
this subiect, viz. what & how many points of fayth are requisite
to a fundamentall Confession or (w:ch is the same) are necessary to
euery one to bee knowne to saluation. This Consultation is of 3
sheets of papjerl & is proposed Problematically to giue them
occasion to resolue all the matter and cleare doubts incident in
