of the tymes, w:ch you giue vnto mee is remarkable, for indeed
there is in the outward nature and prop[er]tye of my busynes a
certayne Antipathy to those other designes w:ch you feare.
Therefore our freinds should not suspect mee nor bee too slacke in
doeinge their duties wxh should for many other respects bee [-p[er]-formed-] {+p[er]-
formed+} and taken to heart; I haue giuen Sr Fred: H[amilton] a
copie of the last letter wxh H. Grocius nowe Swedish Amb:r at
Paris wrote vnto mee whereof you may take a copie to impart in
due tyrne to such as you shall thinke fit. When 1 am gone from
hence into Denmarke, I will cause print some other things then
hitherto I haue been able here to put to the presse partly for want
of meanes, partly because I am loath to make the particulars of our
Negotiacon too publique before wee come to some finall conclusion.
Pray for mee that I may bee directed and assisted in the dangerous
& doubtfull occasions of this worke, That the spirit of Jealousie
may bee suppressed, and that I may bee able to walke in a cloud
of secret prouidence till the tyrne be ripe and matters fit for the
tyrne bee prepared.

Illustrissime & Magnificentiss:e Domine.
Quoniam Constitui omnis hoc in loco scriptionis meæ finem
facere hisce ideo iam Rogare convenit, ut sine offensa mihi liceat
animi mei sensa paulo liberius expromere, ut tandem a meo spiritu
illud quo premitur onus excutiatur & cordis mei secreta in Excelhtiæ
V:ræ sinum effunda[n]tur: nam inter illa quæ meum animum hoc
tempore vera coram Deo tristitia affligunt; præcipuum est quod
vi-deam me undique a diffidentijs ita circumvallari ut exitum ab ijs
invenire vix ullum queam. Jam vero inter omnes diffidentiæ
scru-pulos mihi graues ille qui a Verbis Illustr:tis V:ræ non ita pride m]
in colloquio nostro apparere visus est, me maxime perturbauit; &
Spiritu[m! meum usque adeo adhuc sollicitum habet, ut nulla ratione
conquiescere possim, donee causas eius legitima via e medio sublatas
esse videam.
Hoc autem ut fiat aliam rationem non invenio quam ut Illustr:ti
V:ræ de mea in toto negotio meo intentione plenissime satisfiat.
Atque hoc futurum per Dei gratiam confido; quando nudatis om-
