meddelanden och aktstycken

drawe nearer home, yet the Resident of that crowne, who is in this
place, hath obliged mee to present my selfe there also vnto the Lord
Channcellour of that Crowne promisinge a fauourable entertaynement
of the purpose. I will waite vpon god, and see what these
occasions & Concurrences of thoughts & good willing affections will
produce in due tyrne.

The Kingdome of god is like a mustard seed, but afterward
becometh a great tree, and the Prophet Zachary sayth, who hath
despised the day of small things; Therefore I am not dismayed at
any discouragem[en;ts, but conceiue hope in god, that if once the
Spirits of the godly & learned men be wakened vp and called vpon
by Authority to rectifie the confusions that are in doubtfull
disputa-cons; that after soe manye preparatiues some wished for conclusion
will ensue, where vnto I am assured that your Lordships prayers,
aduices & helps, will not bee wantinge; for the experience which I
haue of your Lo[rdshi]pps piety, learninge & Charity doth p[er]swade
mee that you will neuer bee wantinge, when soeuer the occasion
will fall out seasonable, w:ch god is able to bring to passe sooner
then wee are aware off. To his favour & proteccon I com[m]it
your labours in the gospell, wishing you all length of dayes and
happiness.

[John Durie].

To [Samuel Har t lib]}
(Stockholm, 9 May 1638.)

Stockholme, the 9. of May. 1638.

I thanke you for all your letters & packets: You see what I
write here to the B[ishopl of Kilm[or], I purpose as soone as I
knowe the resolution of these Lords, &r haue gotten a declaracon
thereof in write, to bee gone, onely one thinge doth now keepe my
spirit busy, w.ch is to fit Mr. Matthey with writes that when I am
gone, hee may haue sufficient matters to enforme others, & worke
vpon their dispositions that w:ch will be requisite to accomplish the
worke in due tyrne. When I am gone from hence, I shall not bee
able, in a moneth or two, to copie out all the writes, &
consulta-cons & propositions passed here betwixt mee & these diuines, For
since ye begining of my treaties here, I haue written certayne
volumes, besides the letters that you & others haue receiued, & if it
were onely to transmit the Copies, of all vnto you, I desire to bee
free of this place, where I cannot set my spirit at rest, because I
find alwayes newe matters of action, & am ouerwhelmed with
occasions & obiects of negotiatinge, soe that I haue had my spirit in
a manner contvnually bent without intermission or relaxation this
