ed Him, and by His suffering and death to render
satisfaction for their sins. When all this was finished, He
sent His apostles out into the world to make known to
all men that God, who was angered by the sins of men,
had now been propitiated through the suffering and
death of Christ. To all those who would now follow
Christ, put their faith and trust in Him, and receive
baptism and be taught Christianity, all would be
forgiven, so that they would find favor with God and
receive eternal salvation. If they were to receive the
precious treasure procured by Christ, therefore, it must
be accomplished through faith. For this reason Paul
took such pains to make it clear to all that
righteousness comes not from works but from faith in Jesus
Christ unto all that believe. He also presents many
examples in proof thereof.–-
"Now righteousness and the forgiveness of sins are
the same thing. But forgiveness of sin we receive
through faith in Jesus Christ, and trust in Him, hence
righteousness results from faith in Christ, for Jesus
Christ alone of all men was without sin, righteous and
good. In Him there was nothing to displease God; so
good and righteous was He that to those who have
communion with Him all is forgiven when they come
before God, and they are for the same reason like Christ
in God’s sight, although in themselves great and
grievous sinners. Now it can no longer be laid against
