                                        VETERVM Gothorum, ac Sueonum antiquissimus mos
                                        erat, vt vbi acriores in campis, seu montibus instituissent,
                                        & perfecissent pugnas, illic erectos lapides, quasi Aegyptiacas
                                        pyramides collocare soliti sint: quibus hujusmodi
Montes excelsi                                         præclara gesta brevissimo aliquo titulo insculpentes, memoriam
                                        nominis, & gestorum suorum perpetuari putabant,
                                        prout eorundem temporum vsitatæ cantiones rhythmaticis compendiis
                                        compositæ, continuatisque seculis in præsente vsque diem
                                        derivatæ, hanc rem ad posterorum memoriam propagarunt. Extant
enim in Septentrionalibus locis durissimi montes cinericii coloris, marmoream duritiem
longe exuperantes: hi plerumque terræ motu, fulgure, vel alio, naturæ impulsu ita concuti
Fragmenta fiunt obelisci. solent, vt excisa, deorsumque cadentia saxa, partim formam pyramidis, partim quadratarum
colunnarum, partim quadrangulorum, & obeliscorum, quasi insigni naturæ opificio forent
fabricatæ, suscipiunt, vt inutile, vanunque aliquid his suproaddere videatur. Has igitur columnas,
primum extractas in campis, & excelsioribus locis, partim scripturis notatas, protim
Gigantes. insculptas, posuere gigantes, prout Virgil. in Aeneide similibus attestant, dum inquit:
        Vix illum lecti bis sex cervice subirent,
Pyramides.         Qualia nunc hominum producit corpora tellus.
Obelisci. Sed hæ pyramides, seu columnæ, apud Helsingos plures, atque alibi reperiuntur in Aquilone.
Peste, fame, bellis desolantur regna. Obelisci vero, seu sublimia saxa, viribus gigantum ac pugilum erecta, nullibi frequentius,
atque apud Ostrogothos, & Vestrogothos, ac superiores Sueones in biviis, seu triviis conspiciuntur,
et in vastis solitudinibus quæ dudum peste, fame, & bellis habitatoribus evacuatæ,
necdum ob inertiam, seu negligentiam incolarum, ad pristinum cultum (terra vltro exultante
hactenus, nisi rarissime in formam novalium) sunt reductæ. Habent itaque hæc saxa in
Longitudo saxorum. plerisque locis erecta, longitupinem x. vel xv. xx, aut xxx. & amplius, ac latitudinem quatuor
Mirabiles characteres pugilum gesta continentes. vel sex pedum mirabili situ, sed mirabiliori ordine, ac mirabilissimo charactere,
ob plurimas rones collocata: literato, rectoque, & longo ordine videlicet pugilum
certamina, quadrato turmas bellantium, & sphærico familiarium designantia sepulturas,
ac cuneato equestrium, ac pedestrium acies ibidem, vel prope fortunatius triumphasse. Scripturæ
Causa ordinatorum saxorum. vero a dextro latere in pede saxorum inchoatæ, vsque in verticem, & tandem reflectendo
in sinistro pede finitæ vel iterum eodem ordine interius elevatæ, depressæque terminantur.
Ordo literarum. Habentque singulæ literæ spissitudinem, atque longitudinem digiti majoris
