                                        OSTENSVRVS bella sylvestrium inhabitatorum extremi
                                        Aquilonis mores asperos, exercitia miranda, linguarum
                                        varietates, locorum situs, cursum alibi inusitatum,
                                        rupium præcipitia, profundas nives, invias paludes, limosas
                                        voragines, amnesque præcipiti cursu labentes per sylvas
                                        latissimo spatio inhabitatas, curiosum lectorem, si libuerit,
                                        ad res gestas Alexandri, nihil intentatum relinquentis, Alexander Magnus.
                                        remitto: atque inter alia de triumphis ab inope gente
                                        Indiana quæsitis: quæ propriis expulsa laribus, rupem
abruptam, seu potius acuminatam petram pro sui defensione, & natura munitam
elegit, pluresque temere jussu Alexandri accedentes interemit: parumque absuit ne &
ipse locorum arduorum, vt rupium invasor potius, quam hominum victor, saucius
& morituro similimus interimeretur. Acrius enim, quam cautius
plurimis intersectis ducibus, temeraria præsumptione pugnabat.
