                                        TRANSITVS hujus hominis, & equi, quasi super
                                        clypeos militares, sic intelligitur. Sunt inter Septentrionalia
                                        regna Suetiæ, & Norvegiæ, montes alti limitanei,
                                        Doffrini dicti, ac alii similes, hyberno tempore adeo densis,
                                        & profundis repleti nivibus, vt per eos solidum iterDoffrini montes.
                                        communi more viatoribus pernegetur. Verum vt domestici
                                        negotiatores eiusmodi difficultatem ingenio superent,
                                        arteque pondera levent, crates, seu arcus levi, ac lato subere,

                                        equorum alligant, jugaque nivium sine formidine depressionis

vero sub splendidissima luna duplatum iter consumunt, aut triplatum. Neque
id incommode fit, cum nivium reverberatione lunaris splendor sublimes, & declives
campos illustret, vt etiam montium præcipitia, ac noxias seras a longe prospiciantLumine lunæ evitant pericula.
evitandas: inter quas montant lupi sub intenso frigore, mense præsertim Ianuaro,
agmine magno conglobati, sunt nocentiores, prout infra de pericuio luporumLupinocentiores.
dicetur. Res autem, quæ tam ingenioso labore portantur, sunt sal, crustatum ferrum,
lineus ac laneus pannus, & alicubi mineralia saxa argenti, cupri, ac pellesRes & mercimonia.
pretiosæ. Vt autem equi ad iter niveum providentius instituantur, eos in nivosis
vallibus a juventute exilibus sportis quasi corbibus ad pedes alligatis, cum levi onere
dietim ducunt, vt assuescant pondera portare graviora. Nec minus ductores corbibus
sub plantis alligatis sese baculo inferius lato habilitant, & sustentant, vt hisBaculo alleviantur viatores.
præambulis pro tempore imminentem valeant effugere necessitatem, & mortem.
Evenit enim itinerantibus, vt Austro flante tantum nix mollescat, vt impressis pedibus
equi, vel hominis, nisi modo provideatur antedicto, quasi aperta vorago
cedat: nec est qui relevet solum cum jumento, nisi fidis hominibus fuerit comitatus. Væ soli.
Si in multis casibus verum est verbum Væ soli, certe horrendum est in hoc passu nisi
homo habuerit in tali casu sublevantem. Neque hic piætereundum puto gravem autorem
Strabonem lib. XI. de partibus Armeniæ valde similia ad hunc casum adducentemStrabo.
