CAP. I.

                                        MINERÆ Septentrionalium regionum satis multæ, magnæ,
                                        diversæ & opulentæ sunt. Multæ, quia in vallibusMineræ.
                                        & montibus sitæ, frequentius adhærentes extrahuntur.
                                        Item magnæ, quia inexhaustæ, & amplæ, tam in superiori
                                        Suetia, quam Gothia, & Varmorum regione, penes
                                        Norvegiæ liites reperiuntur. Item diversæ, quia argenti,
                                        cupri seu æris, & chalybis, & electissimi ferri. Item
                                        opulentæ, vt infra dicetur, cum in eiusmodi mineris bona
                                        pars Regii fisci, seu tributi, veniet extrahenda. Et lices taliumTributum fisci.
montium, ac minerarum ingens multitudo sit in antedictis regnis, tamen plurimis
signis natura monstrante, semper novæ, recentesque scrutantibus offeruntur, præsertimSigna minerum inveniendarum.
vbi montes in summitate rotundi sunt, & in vmbilico, ac rotunditate non fissi
vel fracti: sed nix in hyeme, propter sulphuris fumositatem, liquescens. Ictu
vero fulguris in vertice, vel latere, aut pede tacti montes, elucentes argenti venas
in fissuris ostendunt, suosque lucricupidos allectos, magis magisque ad ardorem inexplebilisLucricupidi,
avaritiæ incendunt, vt nullius respectum periculi, saxa cavando perueniant ad
interiora: vbi non secus venæ in montibus, quam membra in hominibus stantes sursumSimilitudo.
deorsum, levorsum vel dextrorsum divisa videntur: eoque fulgentiores mineras
annexas retinent, quo puriori petræ, vel marmori connatæ videntur. Quæ enim
versus Occidentem naturæ lineamentis diriguntur, majoremque gibbum ad Meridiem,
& Boream flectunt, optimæ sunt, & inæstimabiles: quoniam nonSigna optimae mineræ.
aliter apparent venæ illæ, quam micantes armati ordine suo
bene locati. Hæcque voluptas vtilitati conjuncta,
non paruum solatium laborantibus, ac
possessoribus præstat.
