CAP. IIII.

NEQVE hoc loco omittendum est, quod Saxo de Regis
Regneri astutia, & stratagematibus eius lib. IX. meminit.
Dian rex.                                         Inquit enim, Hellesponti Rege Dian post varia bellorum
discrimina occiso, Regnerum a duobus filiis interemptum
Dian videlicet & Daxon, severa certamina sustinuisse. Ii
etenim filii olim Rutheni Regis filias maritali forte complexi,
impetratis a socero copiis, ardentissimo spiritu paternæ
                                        vindictæ negotium rapuerunt. Quorum Regnerus
                                        immensum animadvertens exercitum, dissidentia copiarum
Equi ænei. habita, equos æneos ductilibus rotulis superpositos, ac versatilibus curriculis circumductos,
in confertissimos hostes maxima vi exagitari præcepit: quæ res tantum ad
relaxandam adversariorum aciem valuit, vt vincendi spes magis in machinamento
quam milite reposita viderentur: cujus intolerabilis moles, quicquid impulit, obruit.
Potuit forte Rex iste Regnerus dicere de suis æneis equis, quod supradictus Antiochus
Soter ( Luciano teste ) de suis elephantibus contra Galatas pugnando, testatus est.
Dum enim eiusdem Antiochi principes convenissent, & victoriosum
Responsum regis notabile. Regem nuncupassent, Rex respondit: Verecundiam habemus milites,
quod nostra salus tantum in XIIII. animalium terrore sita
Galatæ divina virtute non bestiarum terrore superanti. fuerit. Si autem rem copiosius tractare volumus,
divina virtute Galatæ conciderunt, quia
somnio bono confortatus,
audacter ingressus
sum
prælium, atque victor, evasi.
De eodem
