cervisia, & melle, ac myrto: qui quarta parte in sua appositione assumitur, id est,
quatuor partes cervisiæ, & quarta pars myrti: & decoquitur hæc compositio igne forti,
per vnam horam, vel duas, donec mel fuerit despumatum: & tandem superposita
sece cooperitur, & cooperta manet vno integro & dimidio die, & exit potusPotus fortissimus.
fortissimus: qui sicuti antiquum hydromel, aut medo, crateri, aut cyatho impletus,
præ fortitudine radios mittit scintillantes, velut candens ferrum. Eo liquoreRadii guttatim præ nimia fortitudine ascendunt.
gens illa frequentius vtitur in nuptialibus festis, & honorabilium amicorum, ac
hospitum receptione. Neque in hoc solo potu, sed fortissima cervisia semper abundant:
licet mulsum hoc mellis adulteratione artificiosa sit excogitatum, prout & aliorum
cura semper ascendit, vel serpit in diversorum fructuum musto conficiendo:
quod opus ingenii est, & non naturæ. Vinum tamen omnibus his præfero in suaVinum bonum eligibilius.

                                        QVIA inter præcipuos rerum naturalium scrutatores, & scriptores,
                                        maxime in his, quæ ad salubriorem hominis victumHippocratis censura de bonitate hordeacei potus.
                                        pertinent, Hippocrates videtur habere de hordaceo potum rationem,
                                        & censuram meliorem, prout in libris eius desuper
                                        confectis, clarissime demonstratur: propterea magnam vim
                                        facit de natura hordei, & eius potione (cui multa, variaque
                                        imponit nomina ) quod omnibus annonis, seu frugibus sanior,
                                        & vtilior sit, vbi eius vsus habetur pro optimo potumModus Hippocrati ignotus.
                                        decoquendo. Nec tamen modum ob inexperientiam regionum
exprimere potuit, qualis saltem generaliter in conficienda cervisia reservatur.
Quocirca quibus placet, offeratur is modus Septentrionalium incolarum: qui decocturi
cervisiam, quanto electius hordeum invenerint, & diligentius præparaverintModus conficiendi cervisiam.
tanto saniorem exinde potum non dubitant eventurum. Sicque præparant, juxta
exigentiam familiæ majoris vel minoris, publicæ vel privatæ domus: Eligunt pavimentum
