CAP. XXI.

                                        NEC dissimile luscorum spectaculis abesse solet, quod garrulisEquestres garruli.
                                        equestribus, importuna dicacitate a lingua mutuantibus
                                        spicula, & vires, tanquam improbis, rixosis, & contentiosis,
                                        publica confusione corripiendis, aliquid opponi
                                        solet, ea præcipue vilipensionis nota, quod aliqua mulierMulier animosa.
                                        cordata armis, galeaque, ac hasta munita, vni alicui e prædictis
                                        garrulis hastam frangendo concurrat. Neque invite eiusmodi
                                        gloriolam quærit hic sexus, cum ab ineunte ætate
                                        solitus sit equos domare feroces. Stato igitur loco & tempore,
congressione facta, garrulus mulieris hasta ab equo dejicitur, qui epotandisSexus muliebris gloriabundus.
calicibus inventus est non agnovisse fortiorem. Quo fit, vt alii satellites, seu equestres,
nunquam proni sint ad inutiles proferendos garritus, more scurrarum, ac protomimorum.
Nihil enim adeo necessarium est fortissimo militi, quam abditum servareMilites veri a garrulitate abstinent.
silentium, & modestissimum pro tempore miscere sermonem, juxta carmen vsitatum:
        Scire loqui decus est, decus est & scire tacere.
                Hæc duo si poteris, sæpe peritus eris.
Summæ nanque levitatis, & ignavi animi est, militarem virum, garrulum, nugacem,
de exigua gloriola suscipere inanem jactationem, & se extollere, quasi fortunamIactatio inanis.
sub imperio suo haberet, certusque sit, eam nunquam in posterum adversari sibi posse:
qua e re omnibus irrisioni, & ludibriis erit. Nimis etiam, & inepte seipsum
amat, qui gesta propria laudant, vmbram pro corpore
venaturus, vbi gloriosior expectanda sit laus, Gloria aliunde expectanda.
& commendatio aliena.
