“Did you say nearly?”
The man’s face grew ashy grey under its
layer of dirt.
“No, Fuchs, you needn’t worry. We do
not kill wounded men in an Ambulance, not
even a wounded spy. I am sure you will be
given ample time to collect your varied
impressions of these last months. You have
indeed shown yourself worthy of your
promotion.”
“If you spare my life I will give
information to your authorities for which your
Secret Service would pay a fortune.”
