Äldste kände stamfadern >Per lefde i medlet af 1600-talet. Efter Viby socken i Vifolka härad i Östergötland antogs namnet af hans sonson, Peter, född 1703, död 1774 som kyrkoherde i Rogslösa i samma provins.
