KOHLSWA JERNVERKS AKTIEBOLAG

The Blast Furnace at Köping.

of affairs lasted until 1863, when Mr. Lars Lindberg, who had become the owner of West
Kohlswa in 1853, once more brought the business under a common management by
purchasing the larger part of East Kohlswa, including its water rights and forges.

Lindberg may be considered as the founder of the present modern establishment
at Kohlswa. He brought the Works on a level with the leading iron works in the country,
and it was chiefly owing to his efforts that Kohlswa obtained modern communications,
by means of the building of the Köping-Uttersberg Railway.

Lindberg died in 1875. His heirs owned the Works until 1893, when they
transferred them to a limited company, the present Kohlswa Iron Works Company Ltd.,
in which they themselves were the principal shareholders. This Company has
developed most successfully, financially as well as technically. The total superficial area
of the workshops was 7,790 sq. metres when the Company was formed, while at present
it is 22,936 sq. metres. In 1917 the majority of the shares was taken over by a
syndicate under the leadership of Mr. Kristoffer Huldt, Chairman of the Board of Directors.
The managing director and manager of the works is Mr. E. U. Pison Troili.
