The old Steel Works ät österby.
A number of ancient buildings of attractive exterior bear witness, even to-day of
the refined architectonic taste possessed by the owners and managers of these works.
The number of hands in the regular employ of the Company amounts to 2,000 persons. The large farming estates possessed by the firm is of the greatest importance for supplying the men and their families with the chief necessaries of life, at the same time that the comfort of the workmen is increased by their having the opportunity to cultivate the little gardens surrounding their dwellings. A great number of the regular workmen are the descendants of the Walloons who came into the country in the
Interior from the new Forge at österby.
