71% iron, and is, consequently, practically speaking, pure magnetite, while the
phosphorus percentage is as low as 0*009 %, which makes it possible to manufacture
phosphorus-free pig iron.
The production amounts to about 30,000 tons per year. Specimen analyses of
the pig iron are given below:

Simultaneously with the erection of the works at Carlsvik there was built a 3-mile
long normal-gauge railway from Gammelstad to Carlsvik, chiefly for the purpose of
transporting ore and charcoal. This railway is also the property of Aktiebolaget
Ytterstfors-Munksund, but is managed under the name of:
Gammelstad-Karlsviks-hyttans Järnvägs Aktiebolag.
