Kllen Posse, Willie Thorburn, Eugene and Louise and
Hjalmar Leeb all came so kindly to follow the dear
departed one, besides all the people in the place; none
invited, but we heard the church was quite full, prettily
decorated, numbers of kind friends, even Baron Dickson,
Mr Olof Wijk, J. Hammarberg, Mr Wemyss, etc. The
English funeral ceremony so solemnly performed by
Mr Despard, very beautiful. Soft sunshine on the pure
snow as the dear one was laid in her bed of »white
samite, mystic, wonderful», where all that is mortal
now rests, while we trust that the glorified spirit has
joined the saints above, round the throne of Him in
whom she trusted with such firm faith. But oh, it was
a sad day. Dear Eleonore and Caroline Wijk came
in and told us how beautiful it had all been.
Of the number of kind sympathising letters and cards
from far and near, I can keep no count. How dear
Charlotte would have wondered, could she have seen
them.
