fuldeste fremhæves flere rigt udskaarne Portaler fra
norske Stavkirker fra 12te—-14de Aarh. Aaben Mandag
og Fredag 1—2.
I den vestre Fløibygning er BibliotheJcet, der nu
indeholder 210,000 Bind, men er beregnet at afgive
Plads for omtrent 250,000. Foruden de større og
mindre Bogsale, indeholder Bygningen Læseværelse,
Ud-laansværelse, Arbeidsværelser for Bibliothekaren og
Amanuenserne, og et brandfrit Rum til Opbevaring af
Manaskriptsamlingen Bibliotheket er vel repræsenteret
i alle Fag; det har en rig Samling af den ældre
norsk-danske Literatur. Til Bestridelse af dets Udgifter er
bevilget 24,000 Kr. aarlig. Bibliotheket er aabent for
Udlaan hver Dag i Ugen, undtagen Lørdag, fra Kl. 12—2,
og Læseværelset kan afbenyttes hver Dag, undtagen
Lørdag, fra Kl. 11—3. Bibliotheket og Læseværelset
er lukket fra 15 Decbr, til 15 Januar og fra 15 Juli
til 15 August.
I Midtbygningens anden Etage er:
Den zootomiske Samling (Opgang i Kjælderen
til-høire i Vestibulen). I det forreste af Samlingens tre
Værelser er opstillet en stor Mængde mikroskopiske
Præparater af Sandse-, Fordøielses- og
Aandedræts-organer m. m. I det midterste Værelse er den største
Dei af Skeletsamlingen anbragt, deriblandt Skeletter
af den afrikanske og asiatiske Elephant, Kamel, Giraf,
Elg, Hjort, Bjørn m. fl. Af Hvalskeletter er kun to
mindre opstillede i Samlingen, de øvrige ere
magasinerede paa Grund af Mangel paa Plads. Samlingen c-r
aaben Mandag og Fredag fra Kl 12—2.
Mineralkabinettet (Opgang gjennem Kjælderen tii-
stone and bronze ages; but the iron age is exceedingly
well represented, particularly the latter part (the
Viking era, from 700 to 1000 B. C.). Indeed no
Scandinavian collection is richer in arms and implements
from that epoch. Of the objects in this Collection
belonging to a later period, the most valuable are divers
magnificently carved porticals of Norwegian „Stavkirker"
(Churches built of „Rejsværk") from the 12th to the
14th centuries. Open Monday and Friday 1—2.
The whole of the left wing is occupied by the
Library, which now contains 210,000 and is calculeted to
afford room for 250,000 volumes. Exclusive of the
Library itself, this building contains the Reading Room,
offices for the principal librarian and amanuenses, and
a fire-proof chamber for the MSS.
The University Library is well supplied in all
branches of literature, being particularly rich in
Norse-Danish works from the oldest Period. The anual amount
v’oted by the Storthing for the expenses of the Library
is 24,000 Kronei. Books may be obtained every
day, except Saturday, from 12 to 2, and the Reading
Room are closed from the 15th December to 15th
January, and from the 15th July to 15th August.
In the second story of the centre building are the
following Collections :—
The Zoötomical Collection (entrance-door in
basement, on the right hand side of the vestibule). — In
the first, of the three rooms containing the collection,
-.vill be found a large number of microscopical
preparations of the organs of the senses, and those of
digestion and respiration, &c. The greater part of the
