Værelser og et Sovekammer, hvori er anbragt to
Stillebens-billeder af Bø og to Dyrestykker af Sigvald Dahl. —
Gjßnnem en aaben, hvælvet Portikus kommer man fra
Salonen ind i Spisesalen i den mindre Bygning. Den
fornemste Dekoration i denne Sal er de ti berømte
Genrebilleder af A. Tidemand („Norsk Bondeliv") og
fire større Malerier af Frich. Ved Siden af Spisesalen
er et Anretningsværelse og nedenunder Kjøkken og de
for Økonomen bestemte Rum. Fra den øverste Del af
Taarnet, 160 Fod over Havfladen, haves den smukkeste
Udsigt over Fjorden og Christianiadalen. Paa
Terrassen er anbragt tvende større Springvand, og i nogen
Afstaud fra Hovedbygningerne er Drivhusene. — Til
Oscarshal hører et Have- og Parkanlæg af betydelig
Størrelse, som er gjennemkrydset af Gangstier og
Kjøreveie.— I den Del af Parken, som benævnes
„Dronningbjerget", har Kong Carl Johan ladet opreise et
Monument over "Wedel-Jarlsberg, hvis Brystbillede er
anbragt paa en Piedestal af Granit. Paa Høiden af
Dronningbjerget, hvorfra en smuk Udsigt haves over
Byen og Fjorden, er nu opført en vakker
Schweizerpavillon med Conditori. — Paa den sydlige Pynt af
Ladegaards-Øen er opsat et Monument af Jern til
Minde om Prinds Christian August. — Adgangstegn
til Oscarshal erholdes uden Betaling. — I 1876 lod
en Privatmand paa egen Bekostning opføre en smuk
liden Kirke paa den sydlige Del af Øen, til
Afbenyttelse for Ladegaardsøens Beboere. Kirken, der
kaldes Bygdø Kapel, er opført efter Tegning af Architekt
H. Nissen.

a crenellated wall and divers smaller turrets — being
approached by a winding staircase in the tower. The
front of the building—facing in the sea — is adorned
with a balcony, and in the second story on the
land-side there is a spacious veranda. On the land-side,
an open corridor leads direct to the vestibule, and
from thence to the reception chamber, embellished
with richly carved oaken panelling, the frieze consisting
of 20 medalions, containing each a bust — cast in
zinc — of some famous Norwegian from mediæval
times, modelled in bautrelief by Borch the sculptur.
On brackets in the walls are statuettes of four of the
ancient kings of Norway, — Harald Haarfager, Olaf
Trygveson, Sverre and St. Olaf, modelled and cast in
zinc, by Michelsen the sculptor. In the second story
is the sitting apartment, adorned with nine basreliefs
in marble, by Borch, representing the most striking
scenes of Frithjofs Saga, and with five large landscape
paintings by Guae, depicting the localities on the
Sognefjord spoken of in that famous lay. The third story
contains several smaller apartments, and a dormitory,
in which are two still-life pieces, by Böe, and two fine
animal paintings, by Sigvald Dahl. An open, vaulted
portico connects the reception room with the
dinir.g-hall, in the adjoining edifice. The finest paintings in
this apartment are a series of magnificent pictures by
Adolph Tidemand (Peasant Life in Norway), and four
well executed pieces by Frich. Adjoining the
dining-hall is a smaller chamber for serving and arranging
the viands. The kitchens, and the rooms set apart
for the steward of the household, are in the basement.
