60. Kongsvold, Skydsstation paa Dovre og hvis
Navn skrives sig fra Frederik 4des Nattekvarter der i
1704, frembyder et godt Kvarter og rig Anledning til
Jagt. Paa den nye Vei til Kongsvold, der er lagt
nordenom Jerkinshø og langs Svanaaen, reiser man i
en Længde af l/a Mil med fuldkommen fri Udsigt til
Snehætta og omgivende Fjelde.

JO. Vinstradnlen off dens SSro. Vinstrafossen,
der udspringer fra Bygdin, kommer ved Rise gjennem
en trang Kløft ned til Driva. Over denne Kløft" er lagt
en høist mærkelig Bro, der endnu benyttes.

’S I. tlcnnvoM Station. Naar man meel Jernbanen
fra Christiania til Throndhjem har passeret Jensvold
Station, kommer man paa Banens høieste Punkt, 2,135
Fod over Havet Til venstre paa Billedet har man
endnu Glommen, der dog her forlades af Jernbanen.

Elverum. 28/,n Mil fra Samar ligger
Elverum Station 597 Fod o. H.). Dalen er her temmelig
vid og ret vakker. Jernbanestationen er veel en smuk
Bro forbunden med Elvens østre Bred; da der her er
et Knudepunkt for mange Veie, har der samlet sig en
større Bebygning, end man i Reglen vil finde udenfor
Byerne; der er saaledes Hotel, Apothek og mange
Landhandlerier. Her afholdes ogsaa i Marts Maaned
det ialfald tidligere vigtige og stærkt besøgte Grundset
Marked, hvor især Tømmerhandel foregik i stor
Maalestok. — Lige ved Jernbanestationen er Exercerpladsen
Terningmoen.

the high-road between these two places. A little to
the north of Fokstuen, strike off to the left from the
high-road, and go straight on, the mountain being in
sight most of the way. Having passed Nysæteren, you
come to GrisungJcnatten (1 mile from Fokstuen), where
you have a grand prospect of Snehætta, with his crest
of snow, and of Svanaadalsfjeldene, with their wild
fantastic shapes. In the foreground, direct before you,
there is a deep valley, with a river — the
Grisung-elven—flowing through it (the beginning of the Driva).
This valley and the mountain ridge succeeding it, are
followed by others, the one loftier than the other, all
of which have to be crossed. In the clear atmosphere
of the fjelds distances are very deceptive, and you
imagine again and ogain that you are at the last ascent,
so near does the summit appear. At length you have
crossed the Einangshö, and soon arrive at Snehætta,
where a kind of hut has been erected by a
reindeer-stalker. The ascent of the mountain is not difficult;
you have before you a series of moderate inclines,
consisting of debris and snow, where you can generally
cboose your own direction. At the top of the fjeld,
there is a glacier, with a perpendicular wall of ice
reaching down to a tarn. In clear weather, the
prospect is of course magnificent — a bird’s eye view,
shewing almost every important point marked on the
map. But you are here on the boundary line, not only
of the inland and coastal tracts, but also of two kinds
of weather: if the weather be clear in the interior,
rain falls on the coast, and vice versa, so it is very
seldom that, from this point, the horizon is clear. The
