over med lodrette Vægge, er meget interessant; fra
Midten af Vandet sees Folgefonnen; dernæst sees
tilvenstre Tyssestrengene, et tvedelt Vandfald fra den
synlige øverste mørke Fjeldrand (som bestaar af Lerskifer
og Blaakvarts) ned paa den gamle rødlige Granit, der
omfatter Vandet. — Ved Vandets Østende kommer
selve Bingedalsfossen i mægtigt Fald nedover
Fjeldsiden; naar man stiger iland og gaar lidt opover
Uren, kommer man lige under dens Fod. Fra
Skjegge-dalen til Fossen bruges 2 Timer. Den hele Tour frem
og tilbage til Odde gjøres paa 10—12 Timer.
Voss.
Voss er en, for en vestlandsk Dal, sjelden
stor, bred, frugtbar og veldyrket Bygd, med skjøn og
imponerende Natur; Klimaet er Østlandsklima. Paa
begge Sider af det 3/4 Mil lange Vangsvand, der kun
ligger 120 Fod o. H., ligge talrige vakkre Gaarde ved
Bredderne og opover Lierne. I nordostlig Retning fra
Vangen, nordenfor den store flade Furumo, gjennem
hvilken Bundalselven flyder, strækker Voss’s
Hovedbygd, den frugtbare, af talrige Gaardklynger opfyldte
Tykktbygd, sig op til Gaarden Kløve. — Voss er
Bergens bedste Smørbygd. Vossingerne ere et djærvt,
sprækt og kvikt, men tillige haardt og stridt
Folkefærd; de vare i ældre Tider bekjendte som svære
Slagskjæmper.
isthmus, between the fjord and Eid fjor dv andet, you
row across the latter (half a mile) to Sæbö farm, where
there is a tolerably good bridle-road, a mile in extent,
up the narrow valley of Maabodal, and along the
Bjoreia, as far as Maabö farm. From here a new
bridleroad, made by the Tourists’ Club, traverses the
gorge through which the Bjoreia comes rushing clown,
— first on the north, and then on the south bank of
the river, immediately beneath the mighty cataract,
which from the middle of the dark ravine, shut in by
huge perpendicular walls, pours its vats volume of
water down a fall of five or six hundred feet. Tourists
making use of this way, whether members of the
Tourits’ Club or not, have to pay 24 Skillings each in
contribution (guides not to be paid); the contribution
can be paid either to „Landhandler" Næsheim in Yik,
or at Maabö.
10ß. UUciiMvaug is one of the most beautiful
spots in Hardanger, distinguished by a fertile soil,
beautiful cataracts, and the loveliest of prospects. Just
above Lofthus you get the best view of the fjord, with
the Folgefond in the background. From „Brurestolen",
a huge crag, standing a short distance beyond the
church — an ancient stone edificy without a steeple,
as at Kinservik — there is a fine view up the fjord as
far as Oxen; directly before you, on the opposite shore
of the fjord, there is a steep fjeld, called Aganuten
(4,500 feet high). On the slopes of of the mountains
above Lofthus, lies the Opedalsbygd, with a thick
cluster of farms. Above Ullensvang there are two fine
cataracts, — to the south, the Skrikjofossen, which,
