Preface
The English - Latvian Dictionary is the first
edition of this kind, containing approximately
45 000 entries.
The Dictionary records literary and
colloquial vocabulary of contemporary
English.Much attention has been paid to the
most frequently used socio-political,
scientific, technical, medical, military, sports
etc. terms. Numerous English phraseological
units and rich illustrative material has also
been given.
In compiling the Dictionary the most recent
lexicographical reference works have been
used.
The Dictionary is meant basically for
teachers, university students and lecturers,
as well as for translators and others who read
English fiction, speciality texts and
periodicals.
