in the peninsula of Mount Sinai, so successfully deciphered by Beer (iu his Studia
Asialica), or to the Himyarf alphabet, anciently used in Yemen and IJadhramaut
(Journal Asiatique, Sept. 1845), seem to correspond, in some degree, with the
ancient Phujuiciau character; but uo satisfactory conclusion can bo formed from such
short inscriptions, copied, probably, in great haste.—11.
