- Q: What is this?
- A: It is a proof bar
A proof bar is a bar graph that indicates current status of proofreading and indexing of one of Project Runeberg's digital facsimile editions. Proof bars are shown during proofreading and next to the table of contents of the book. This page provides a legend to the colors of the graph.
Proof bars were introduced in April 2004. They appear during proofreading and also next to each volume's table of contents. The graphs are updated irregularly, so they are not updated for every edit, and not even on a daily basis. These principles are subject to change.
- The top line is a rule that indicates the number of pages in the book. Every new color represents ten pages.
- Red indicates the beginning of a new hundred (page 1-10, 101-110, etc.)
- The middle line indicates the OCR and proofreading status.
- Red indicates the page has OCR text.
- Light green indicates the page has been edited (proofread) at least once.
- Dark green indicates the whole page is proofread.
- White indicates the page has no OCR text, so editing is not applicable.
- The lower line indicates the indexing of the book
- White indicates the page is part of a non-indexed section. You can help by proofreading and inserting "<chapter>" tags.
- Light blue indicates the page is part of an indexed section.
- Dark blue indicates chapters that have been converted to HTML after complete proofreading
