EXPORTS.
Knowing what goods Bergslaget produces,it is easy to understand that, under normal
conditions, its exports must be very considerable. The export has kept pace steadily
with the development of the Company in other respects and, in order to be able to
properly attend to the wants of its customers abroad, the Company has, since many
years back, had branch offices in London, Paris and Hamburg.
SOCIAL AND WELFARE WORK.
There is probably no firm in Sweden, and hardly anywhere else, that has taken
such extensive measures for the social welfare of its employees as Bergslaget. We will
only mention the Housing Company; a large sanatorium, hospitals and baths built by
the Company; libraries and recreation homes for the employees; children’s summer
country homes; cheap provision stores at all the different works; extensive farming
and, last but not least, house-keeping training school for girls and young women, and
special training-schools for boys — this last branch of social training has been made
possible by a donation amounting to several hundred thousand pounds — all these
establishments owing their existence to the munificence of the Company.
