To follow the development of the Uddeholm Ironworks, then, is to trace the history
of economics of Yarmland and, with this as a background, to catch a glimpse of
the great events on the scene of international politics during the epochs when Sweden

built up — and lost — its position as a political Great Power.

After the above account of the origin and earlier development of the Uddeholm
Ironworks, there will be given below a brief disc-ription of the natural resources, both
of raw material and of power, and of the industries based on them — its
manufactures, economic conditions, etc. Out of respect to the readers for whom this present
publication is intended, the greatest weight will he placed on the Company’s Wood

Goods Industry, its iron production being but lightly touched upon.
