vestlige Del af Byen og omkring Slottet. Ogsaa Stadens gamle
Hovedkirke, opført i Slutningen af det 17de Aarhundrede, er ved en
de senere Aar foretaget Restauration bleven en Prydelse for Byen.
I de sidste Aar er Byen ogsaa blevet prydet med flere Statuer,
nemlig af Kong Carl den XIV Johan, Stamfaderen for Norges
nuregjerende Kongehus, Kong Christian IV, Christiania Byes Grundlægger,
Professor Schweigaard og Norges populære Digter Henrik
Wergeland. Af større Anlæg kan nævnes Byens nye Vandbassin paa
St. Hanshaugen og den der anlagte Park (hvorfra man har en vid
og henrivende Udsigt over Byen og dens Omegn) samt
Bazarbygningerne ved Rusløkveien og Youngstorvet.
Christiania har siden dette Aarhundredes Begyndelse været i
stadig og rask Framgang, saa at dens Folkemængde nu udgjør
henved 130,000 Mennesker, og Byen har vistnok endnu ikke paa
langt nær naaet sit Kulminationspunkt.

die gressuri „Trefoldigheds“ und der kleinere, aber sehr schöne
Uranienborg Kirche — giebt es hier noch mehrere in edlerem Styl
gebäute private Haüser, deren Zahl jährlich zunimmt. Dies gilt
besonders dem westlichen Stadttheil ringsum dem Königlichen Schloss.
Die alte Hauptkirche, gebaut gegen Ende der siebzehnten
Jahrhunderts, ist durch eine in den letzten Jahren ausgeführte
Restauration ebenfalls eine Zierde der Stadt geworden.
Während der letzten Jahre ist die Stadt auch mit mehreren
Statuen geschmückt worden, nämlich des Königs Carl XIV Johan
(der Urvater des nun regierenden Fürstenhauses Norwegens), des
Königs Christian IV, (der Grunder der Stadt,) des Professors
Schweigaard und des populären Dichters Norwegens Henrik Weideland.
Von grösseren Anlagen können das Wasserbassin auf St.
Hans-Haugen mit der Parkanlage daselbst, (wovon man eine
ausserordentlich schöne Aussicht über die Stadt und ihre Umgebeungen
hat) sowie die Bazar-Gebaüden am „Rusløkveien“ und „Youngstorvet“
genannt werden,
Christiania hat sich seit Anfang dieses Jahrhunderts eine grossen
Zuwachs zu erfreuen; die Einwohnerzahl betragt jetz ca. 130,000, und
wahrscheinlich hat die Stadt noch bei weitem nicht ihren
Kulminationspunkt erreicht.

of the palace. The old Cathedral, which was built towards
the end of the 17th Century, has also become an ornament to
the town on account of its having been lately restored. Of late
years the town has also been ornamented with several statues
viz: of King Charles XIV John, the founder of the present dynasty,
King Christian IV the founder of the town, Professor Schweigaard,
and Henrik Wergeland the populær Poet of Norway. Amongst
improvements of importance may be mentioned the new waterworks
of the town at St. Hanshaugen with the park laid out there (from
which place there is a charming view of the town and its environs)
and the Bazar-buildings at „Rusløkveien“ and „Youngstorvet“.
Christiania has since the beginning of this century improved
steadily and rapidly, so that its population now amounts to about
130000 people, and the town has certainly not yet by far reached
the point of its culmination.
