light ön the requirements of the hymenomycetes in respect to vitamins,
the abilitv of the reported fungi to assimilale a synthetic nutrient
solution was tested in the presence as well as in the ahsence of vitamin B,.

The technique applied in this investigation bas heen descrihed
pre-viously (Lindeberg, 1944, p. 40—42). Puré cultures of the fungi were
made bv growing spores in malt extract agar or by the »tissue-culture
method» and using malt extract agar or nutrient solutions as substrates.
In the experiments with thiamin a previously proposed solution, i.e.
solution B (Lindeberg, 1944, p. 42) was used viz. glucose 20 g.,
NH4-t ar t rate 5 g., KH,P04 1 g., MgS04 . 71LO 0,5 g., FeCl3-solu(ion
(Fe-conc. Vboo) 0,5 ml., ZnS04-solution (Zn-conc. Vsoo) ^^ ml- MnCL-solu-
