sepala 3 ca. 4 mm longa 0,4—0,5 mm lata acuta erecta vel +
paten-tia rigida.

Cliffortia arcuata resembles externally C. falcata L. til. and belongs
to tlie same section, seel. Petiolatae H. Weim. The curved leaflets are
very characteristic in these two species. C. arcuata differs from C.
falcata by the ciliate slipules, by the acuminate leaflets and above all by
the very peculiar receptacles, unique within Ihe genus. The walls of
the receptacle are thin, mem bra neous and semitransparent.

When this species was originally described only one eollection was
known, viz. Drège n. 0.848 (pro parte) from the Paarlberg. This
eollection was exclusively 2. A description of Ihe ef flowers follows here
(comp. fig. 1 (I, e).
Flores cf sessiles vel brevissime pedicellati; bracteolae 1,0—1,2 mm
longae acutae amplectentes glabrae vel brevissime et irregulariter
ciliatae; sepala 1,5—2 mm longa obovata glabra manifeste reflexa tenuia;
stamina (>; filamenla ca. 1,5 mm longa filiformia; antlierae 0.2—0,25
nmi longae.
