According to the map these species exhibit several large gaps in their
distribution, but these gaps are no doubt partly due to lack of investigation. Probably
0. Vaillantii also occurs in the mountains from Central Abyssinia to the tract north
of Lake Rudolph. O. monocephalum has certainly a lairly continuous distribution
in the areas bordering ön Lake Nyasa and in the higher areas between Northern
Rhodesia and Angola, about 1000—1500 m above sea level.

I do not believe that the great gap in the distribution between the
south and north ends of Lake Nyasa really exists. When this area has
been möre thoroughly explored, the species will no doubt be found
there in many localities. The distribution area of the species north of
