Ön North American, Non-saxicolous Species of
the Genus Rinodina.
By A. H. Magnusson.
la Ihe course of my investigations 011 European, non-saxicolous
species of Rinodina 1 have come across some N. American specimens in the
herbaria, appareiilly bearing unappropriate names taken from European
species. Already a glance at their habitus and still möre the
examination of their structure made it clear that we in most cases had lo do
with quite other species than in Europé. The familiar names of exigua,
turfacea, sophodes and confragosa, used upon American specimens,
were altogether wrong and new names had to he given lo surprisingly
many of Ihem in relation to the small numher of specimens examined.
Bill Ihe material was collected in verv different parts of the vast United
States, in California, Nebraska, Oregon, Dakota, Louisiana,
Pennsylvania, New York etc.
Unfortunately, only specimens in our public herbaria in Stockholm:
Museum of Natura! History (S.), Uppsala (U.), Lund (L.), Göteborg
(Gbg), Helsingfors, in mv own herbarium I hl). Mn) and in that of
Degelius, Uppsala, have been treated.
Some European species have been included in the key (in brackets)
in order lo make clear the differences.
Key to N. American, Non-saxicolous Rinodina species.
