franska hofvet och med kardinalen uti deras politik mot
Sverige; ja, konungen sade d’Avaugour, att han ville, det
kardinalen skulle veta, att han i konnungen af Sverige ej hade
en prins af Condé att handskas med,1 och mera dylikt. När
därpå det franska sändebudet gått, vände sig Karl X
förtroligt till Rolt, sägande sig ha stor orsak till hvad han nu
sagt d’Avaugour; mycken ogenhet hade han rönt af det
franska hofvet, i ty att det hos åtskilliga andra furstar och
stater verkat mycket till Sveriges skada och nackdel och
sär-skildt, enligt hvad han väl hade sig kändt, varit orsaken både
att den brandenburgske kurfursten hittills ej slutit någon
öf-verenskommelse med honom och att holländarne på sitt håll
gjort, hvad de förmått, att lägga hinder i vägen för hans
företag; ja, om det stått i franska hofvets makt att hindra det
uppriktiga förtroende och den vänskap, som rådde mellan
konungen och protektorn, skulle det för visso ha gjort det1 2 3
Och några dagar efteråt fick Rolt veta, att konungen sändt
till d’Avaugour och låtit säga honom, att han ej förut vetat,
det han underhållit sig med en spion åt konungen af Polen.3

and if it had been in their powers to have hindered the fair
corre-spondency and friendship, which is between H. H. and himself, he
was certain they had attempted it».

that he had not thought he had entertained a spie for the king of
Pole».
