of the luxuriant joy of life of this people.
A pious Andalusian saved money for a number of
years to go on a pilgrimage. He did not go as far as
the Tomb of Our Lord, but only to the Church of
Saint Lateran in Rome, to see the foreskin of Christ
which is said to be preserved there. So gay and cheer-
ful is the religion of the Andalusians!
These are merely illustrations. I might communi-
cate many more. I might even stand on one leg and
crow offensively and turn my eyes heavenward in moral
indignation at these godless wretches. But it would
be of no use—and besides I have no desire to.
