IX.
Norbergs förslag till den lag, hvarigenom Then Charter
of Bishop Hill skulle blifva upphäfd.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the people of the state of
Illinois, represented in the general Assembly, that the act, entitled
an act incorporating the Bishop Hill Colony in Henry County, be
and the same is hereby repealed.
Section 2. That all the real and personal and mixed estate
vested in the trustees of said Colony for the use of the members
of said Colony, is hereby vested n three commissioners, herein
after named to be by them destributed among all the members of
said Colony. In the division of the said real personal and mixed
property the Commissioners are only authorized to make deals and
bills. of sale to the members of said Colony, and to no other
person or persons whosoever.
Section 3. Said Commissioners, before entering upon their
duties, shall each take oath before a magistrate to perform their
duties faithfully and impartially, and shall proceed to take an
inventory of all the real, parsonal and mixed property belonging
to the Colony, and have an valuation, made of the same for the
purpose of assertaining how great and interest each member of the
Colony is intitled to. VSaid Commissionares shall then dispose of
- said property publicly to such members of the Colony as will give
the largest premiums on the valuation provided always that each
member shall be entitled to his valuated share of estate, and the
surplus premiums shall be equalty divided among the members.
Section 4. Said Commissioners, before dividing said estate
amongst the members of said Colony, shall first ascertain the
indentedness of said Colony, and if found to be any, shall sell at
public venture such personal property as it may deem best to pay
such indebtness, as well as the expences of this commission.
Section 5. Said Commissioners shall have power to summun
all persons before them, and examine them under oath for the
discovery of any kind of property belonging to the said
incorpo
